On October 20, the Russian traveler, Fedor Konyukhov, announced over his satellite telephone that the storm is carrying his rowboat “Uralaz” to the East – back to the Canary Islands.

According to the traveler, the waves are tossing his boat like a match and he has had to tie himself to the vessel so as not to be thrown into the ocean, reports ITAR-TASS. Fedor Konyukhov cannot row under such conditions. The headwinds are carrying his boat to the East at a speed of about one mile per hour (1.8 kilometers per hour).

The storm will continue for another three days, according to weather forecasters. Fedor Konyukhov is waiting for the end of the wild storm in order to get closer to the Equator where it is much calmer in the Atlantic Ocean.

In order to reach America from the Canary Islands, Fedor will have to make four million strokes. He was planning to cross the Atlantic in 100 days but the weather has made some corrections in the Russian traveler’s plans.
